Coffee and laundry, please!

Café, Coffee, Tintin Tango, Helsinki, laundry, special, local, Finland

It is always a good idea to take different way while going somewhere. Sometimes, around a corner, in a hidden street with little traffic, you might find a gem.

Korvapuusti was so good that I couldn't wait before taking the picture

On Töölöntorinkatu 7 (back of Töölö square) in Helsinki, there is café TinTin Tango established in 1994, dedicated to Tintin the comics character invented by Belgian cartoonist Hergé in 1929. This café is well known by locals and you won't find a single tourist in there. People come here for a cup of coffee with a cinnanon bun (korvapuusti in Finnish), for a delicious breakfast or for one of the tasty snacks, soups or salads.

Cultural and generational mix

Students, young active urbans, Hi-tech entrepreneurs meet the older generation, retired or not. It is a lovely cultural and generational mix. The place is quite crowded and you might have to share your table. The first thing that I noticed as a non-Finnish citizen was that people were... talking! And quite loudly. There was life in this café.

Why not washing your clothes while enjoying a cup of coffee?

While I was looking at the list of the delicacies and salads, I noticed something unusual on the list: "Pesula". Laundry? I never saw that before in a café. I went to the adjacent room, and in the corner there was a washing machine and a dryer. Surprising! You can wash for 4€, dry for 2€ and if you need powder, it costs an extra 1.20€.

Coffee and landry please!
