A design break in an Aalto chair

Finlandiatalo, Finlandia hall, Alvar Aalto, design, café, Helsinki
Blueberry tea and mango mousse: absolutely divine!

The Finlandia hall design by the famous architect Alvar Aalto is one of the most photographed monuments of Finland's capital Helsinki and one of the most iconic work from Aalto. The building is the venue of many national and international concerts and seminars. It is located next to the beautiful Töölö bay, a "lake" filled by the sea and surrounded by trees.

Café Veranda is ideally located at the gound floor, with a large window in direction of the bay, perfect for admiring the view while having a cup of coffee. The place is cosy, modern, stylish and quiet. All the furniture are designed by Alvar Aalto as well as the cups and plates. A little assortment of sandwishes and sweets is just perfect for an afternoon break. If you wish to have a cup of tea (actually 2), the waitress will help you to choose between all the quality teas available. A DJ plays some old LPs in the back of the room and you feel immediately back to older times.

Sweet temptations

Warning: the place is quite pricy but is worth a visit, especially if you are interested in Alvar Aalto's works.

The place is open during weekdays from 9am to 7pm and 2 hours before the concerts.
